Recently, Gartner has positioned Vectra Networks as the only visionary for its 2018 Magic Quadrant for Intrusion Detection and Prevention Systems (IDPS). The reason?

Network based intrusion and threat detection using additional methodes like advanced analytics (such as user and entity behavior) also detect threats that have bypassed other controls. According to Gartner, this is one of the reasons why standalone IDPS solutions are often deployed.

Collectively known as "IDS/IPS" or "IDPS", intrusion detection systems (IDS) and intrusion prevention systems (IPS) have converged. Over the past few years, both system have increasingly begun to pursue the same goals focusing on preventing against external threats leading to the convergence of the two approaches.

The workload for security operations should be reduced through the use of machine learning and analytics. Vectra believes that they are positiones as visionarys through the use of these resources.
